Vigirisque: the Moroccan flood risk management system in its operational phase

An operational deployment phase

Highly exposed to the risk of flooding, Morocco has embarked on an ambitious policy of managing these phenomena, combined with a strengthening of its operational organization to improve the resilience of its territory. It is in this spirit that the Vigirisque project was born, whose objective is to implement an integrated solution for monitoring, anticipating and managing risk events, including the design and implementation of actions to protect populations.

Mandated as a risk management expert by the Ministry of the Interior of the Kingdom of Morocco, Predict is now supporting the project in its operational deployment phase. The next few weeks should allow the Moroccan teams to test the system and in particular the coordination of the brand new national center based in Rabat with the provincial monitoring centers in four pilot areas of the country: Gharb Plain, Mohammedia, Ourika Valley, Guelmim. Skills transfer workshops and simulation exercises should help finalize the system, before the official inauguration of the Vigirisque system scheduled for the summer. A first in Morocco and on the African continent.
